SpeakerSue's Email Ezine

Welcome to SpeakerSue's ezine! Here are 5 specific ideas to help you communicate better and sell more. Follow these terrific tips to make 2010 (whether that's twenty ten or two thousand and ten!) your best year ever!

In this issue:

  • Use email to cold call
  • Subject lines - Breaking news!
  • Take advantage of free Apps.
  • Use the absolute easiest way to get results with email
  • Stay motivated

1. Use email to cold call

If you follow me on Twitter, you're aware of our recent discussion regarding email as an alternative to cold calling (cold emailing, I guess). So here is the quick answer: Email works. Here's how:
  • Be transparent and authentic. Explain how you know or learned about the person to whom you're writing. (Example: Hi Name, Sophie Spaniel suggested I phone you.)

Even if the truth is that you're calling from a list, tell them. Try this: Hi Name, Your name was given to me because you (plan meetings or whatever they do). By establishing a transparent touchpoint, your reader can relax and begin to trust you.

  • Explain in one sentence how whatever "pain" they have can be alleviated by what you offer. At this point, you don't even need to mention yourself... they don't know you and they really only care about solving their challenges and satisfying their needs. Hi Kristin,
Sophie Spaniel suggested I phone you. She told me you might be looking for a unique and affordable venue for your annual meeting.
  • Explain your next step and provide a reason for them to accept it. Hi Kristin, Sophie Spaniel suggested I phone you. She told me you might be looking for a unique and affordable venue for your Board Retreat. I'll call you next Wednesday to talk about how you can provide the perfect environment to help your Board accomplish its objectives.

Want more? I'll custom-craft a training program so your team will leave with new templates and fresh ideas to sell more. Expect a completely personalized approach to your sales training (just as your customers expect from you). Nothing "off-the-shelf" and no surprise trainers showing up! You get me!

2. Subject lines - Breaking news

Create the best subject lines by speaking the truth. Use your subject line as an overview of the message. Readers open emails (or not) based on subject line and sender's name. Help your reader determine the worth of your message by creating a clear, concise summary of the email in the subject line.

Action request: Conference call to discuss Board objectives
Action request: Update on Hawaii meeting

3. Take advantage of free Apps.

Great sales people know they need to keep learning. (Isn't that why you're reading this?) As a subscriber to this ezine, you can download, for free, my new iPhone/iPod App. It's fun and instructive. You can shake, rattle and roll SalesTalk to discover practical new concepts to sell more.
Download directly (and free!) from the iPhone App store: SalesTalk
Payment? The App is free and I'd be so grateful if you'd write a quick review. It's rated 4+ right now and I'd love to know that it's helpful to you, too.

4. Use the absolute easiest way to get results with email

Be concise. No one has time to waste. Make it easy for them to review and respond and you're half-way to success.

5. Stay motivated

"Life's battles don't always go to the stronger or faster man;
But sooner or later the man who wins is the one who thinks he can."

(Woman too, [of course])
Walter D. Wintle

2010 will be your best year yet! Count on it!
Wait, there's more...
