Your sales emails sound exactly like your competitors.

I know because before working with a client, I always mystery shop their competition. The result: If I take out the name of the hotel, pharmaceutical or artificial intelligence company and swap it with its competitor, no one would know.

Those mystery shops have taught me that passionate sales professionals so want to make – exceed – their numbers, that they stick to what used to work.

You’re playing from the same outdated playbook.

Emails sound the same.
Sequence is the same.
Sales approach is the same.

And it isn’t your fault.

Mostly it seems, you’re given a ton of product knowledge but very little training on how to be authentically persuasive, how to help a prospect want to have a robust conversation to learn more, how to create emotional certainty, how to move business forward today.

So here is my tip:
Learn everything you can about your product and don’t stop there.

Learn everything you can about how your product helps your prospects achieve their – or their client’s – goals.

Then write your sales email answering these two questions:
What will be the reward (outcome) of selecting my solution? What will they accomplish, achieve, gain as a result of this collaboration?

Still with me? Then here is the real tip:
You’ve heard the saying that people don’t buy a drill for the drill, regardless of features. They buy it so the drill will do a job for them – make a hole. Keep going!! Do you think they simply want a hole? They want to use that hole to build their dream house, complete a job quickly, hang a picture.

Focus every email on the job they’re hiring your service or product to do, and you will be unstoppable!
