My friend, Dan Burrus, is really smart. He is a “technology futurist and disruptive innovation expert.” It’s a mouthful but when it comes from his mouth, he makes it all make sense.

So when Dan mentioned that the future of communication is a blend of science and art, he made that make sense too.

The science part – the transactional, factual and informational – will soon be taken over by AI. Anybody can provide facts.

The other part is art. The emotional, caring, compassionate part, at least for now and more, is where we humans have the ability to set ourselves, products and services apart and above.

Though AI can personalize, they can’t (yet) ask sensitive, thoughtful questions about your summer vacation or bring authentic lightness and personality to a message. They don’t (yet) help you FEEL anything because that isn’t what they’re programmed to do. They are programmed to transact.

Human persons – you and me! – have art on our side. We have the ability to create positivity and likeability and emotional certainty.

Whether the purpose of your email is to persuade people to choose your venue, drug therapy, location or solution (over so many others that look the same) or do something else you want them to do, the key is to ensure they feel positive about themselves and the idea.

Because current forms of robots, no matter how cute they may look to us, cannot have their own – or authentically express – emotions. We can. That is our X Factor!

How do you get prospects, prescribers, wedding couples, prospective members – your customers! – to FEEL positive?

More, what do you want your prospects to feel about themselves, your service? About you?

It’s okay to stop reading and reflect, and even write a few key words. Finish this sentence: I want my customers to FEEL…..

Confident. Smart. Assured. Respected. Included. Comfortable.

Be certain your words – your emails, your texts, your F2F communications – reflect that.
